Galveston harbor smells wonderful this time of year. If only you could bottle it.

Hotdog and french fries. Those two items comprise an outsized slice of American culture and cuisine.

There are a number of food items that one would probably be better never consuming. Maybe at a baseball game a few times in your youth.

What is the legally current allowable percentage of rat hairs and floor sweepings in hot dogs now a day?

I don't know but I've put them in the "do not eat" category. They sure are good though. I've read they are worse for your health than Coca Cola

I wouldn't be surprised. Like most every red blood American I've eaten a few hotdogs in my life, it was never a regular item with me. I would have corn dog now and then. I can't remember when the last time I had one of either was but I'd say at least 20 or 30 years ago.

Now hamburgers, I do fall prey to the lure of those maybe once every few months. A new place, The Habit, they're pretty good, the expensive gourmet variety. I think I've been there maybe four times in the last year. If you get onion rings and avocado you're up around $15.

Lately I have a job close to one of my favorite taquerias, they have four outlets in the Bay Area: Gordo's. They have a soft shell, grilled chicken taco, if I get the works - guacamole, sour cream - about $6 and the portion is good. Fills me up, but not too much.

^^ there's a Habit very near where I live - they are pretty good!

There is also a local place here that makes sausages that are very tasty. I occasionally pick some up and bbq them maybe once or twice a year. Not sure if they are any better for you though - a lot of salt!
