What's Your Favorite Beer?

The favorite chocolate thread gave me an idea for this thread.
OK everyone what's your favorite beer and if you don't like beer just ignore this thread.

My all time favorite is "Black Butte Porter" from the Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. I grew out of those pale beers and got into dark beers. This is by far the best. It's smooth and tastes great. It's not too bitter nor is it real heavy in body. It's best chilled to about 45 to 50 degrees and it's even very refreshing on a hot day. Goes great with a good porterhouse steak. Hard to find outside of the Northwest but worth looking for.

By the way, there was a beer thread not too long ago.
I tried to be careful this time by doing a search on the subject before posting this thread and nothing came up. Any hints as to where it may be?

Howdy All,
My vote hasn't changed from that other beer thread. It's Henry Weihard's Root Beer

I've been brewing my own beer for years. Just about to bottle a batch this morning.. I make a fairly hoppy light ale most of the time.
For commercial american beer. red hook IPA, and ballantine india pale ale are my favorites,
I like so many of the european beers I would'nt know where to start.

JJL and I had an off-list correspondence about beer and I found out that the man is a pretty hardcore brewer. Trust an O/C biologist if you want it done right.

I brew a extract clone of McEwan's from an internet recipe that is very good. The recipe is on http://www.stoutbillys.com/stout/PRODUCTN.htm. They have a zillion (roughly) recipes on their website which vary from simple to very complex. Narwahl, they have a a wide array of belgian clones, too. I don't know anything about the sales part of stoutbilly.

Most of my supplies, ingredients and equipment from stpats.com out of Austin. A friend in Austin trades with them frequently and on his recommendation I began ordering from them, too. Competitive pricing with local sales and they've always been very helpful. I received a sterile liquid yeast culture once and they replaced it free of charge, no questions. True, its not much money but my loyalty is easily bought.

My favorite beers out of a bottle are #1 Skullsplitter (another assault on the liver from Scotland); #2 IPA from Deschutes Brewery; and Guinness, of course. One that I really like a lot is Canadian, "Raftman". Not sure what brewery. But its too expensive down here for me to drink it very often. If I'm gonna spend a lot of money on alcohol, I buy a bottle of 15 yr old Glenmorangie (someday I'll steal from my kids lunch money and buy a bottle of 18).

But I'm really a beer slut. If I'm hot I'll drink a Bud or Miller. Thats what I call "lawnmowing beer."

I like mine on the less hoppy side, for the money Pete's Wicked Ale is great and widely available. There is a brewery in Nashville that makes a beer called Bohannon Nut Brown Ale and it's been my favorite for a while despite the $7 per 6-pk price and the fact that one has to wipe the rust from around the neck from the cap. Also Guinness and the first of the day get my vote.

Guinness and Newcastle Brown ale for real falling down juice take a half pint of the black stuff in a pint glass, then top up with Newcastle brown The two together make a very strong brew, but it's an acquired taste.McEwans is a drop of good stuff too.
