It is funky indeed. I got it all cleaned out now and the pan is ready for a re-install.

So humid now ... even with the garage door open and the engine a few feet away from the door, I am sweating bullets within 15 minutes. Hope to get the pan back on this evening. My routine is to work around 3 AM til 9-ish. Then, it's oven time. First thing I do if the engine starts and runs OK is some engine flush. The top half of the engine looks very clean. So, as I said, you got me.

Decided to get moving on this before the real heat sets in as Columbia, S.C., is entering spring with a few days in the 80s a few weeks ago already.

Engine is headed to the machine shop this week I hope -- weather permitting. Spring showers virtually every day ...

AMG Rims (the 'real' ones) are done with new center caps and new chrome lug bolts and I couldn't be happier. It's odd how the camera captures different colors of "red" when they look identical in person. You got me.

And, many thanks to Rollguy -- his best engine degreaser ever from Sam's Club really cleaned up the engien bay. I have decided to keep the patina and the 'rugged' look. I was going to media blast the engine bay and make it look new. However, I have taken a shine to the patina and the used look.

I'd love to be in a position to able to do that. You're most fortunate.

I am very blessed indeed.

Red leather interior is going to be done by the end of March I hope and from there, it is just odds and ends ...

Not a very elegant solution but I did avoid removing the hood. We got close enough to 70F today so the spray adhesive would 'stick' ...

I wish I took pictures of the really funky crap the PO or someone prior to me used to glue the hood pad. Looked like the stuff they use on flooring, a whitish-yellow heavy plastic-like junk. Took 2 cans of the 3-M adhesive remover and literally around 5 hours. What a mess ...

Now, new hood pad and washer fluid defuser installed.

That looks fantastic. I've been wanting to do that to mine for some time. One day I hope I'll be able to. My hood looks way worse than yours was. Not just because of the adhesive gunk but from oil etc...

Looking good! I've got a W126 sitting in my shop I need to replace the hood pad I've been putting off. Seeing yours might just be the impetus I need.

Perhaps the most or least needed option or accessory .... lol

For years I have been attracked to the headlight wipers. Not sure why ? Not sure they are even needed at all....

Started off with the driver's side and you can see where I should have listened to my inner tinkerer voice to experiment at the junkyard ... this will be a project down the road to fix. I'm not sure how, but I cannot believe I am the first person to drill a hole not perfectly ....

And, swapping out the corner lights from the yellow US type to the orange Euro type. I believe I have misplaced the driver's side ... I cannot locate it. I did find a number of brand new nozzles and some other stuff in the search ...

Overall, I do like the wiper look ...

Darker Euro turn signals

Can you post the part number of the darker turn signals?
I would like to purchase a pair but haven't gotten a definitive PN.

Thanks, Geoff

I don't know if the part # is stamped on the inside or is a sticker. If I need to pull it I will try to remember to take a picutre of the part #.

The red leather interior should be done and installed, and completed by the end of April 2019. I'm so happy with the work thus far.

Just one decision to make is whether or not to go with the locking armrest. It's in black leather, NOS. Very rare. I have only seen one on German eBay around 5 or 6 years ago. This was specific to the W123.

Some of the work in progress .....

Fantastic looking door cards. If only I'd seen your vid last night before I removed my passenger door card from mine. Would have made it a lot easier seeing how that front map pocket plastic clip went attached.

My preference would not be to use a different color arm rest for what it's worth.
