Can someone comment on known issues and peculiarities of the E430. What can I expect when buying one with 80K miles?

I was wondering the same thing. When I put my key in the ignition switch, turn it to glow (while the driver's car door is open) my dome light blinks oddly.

I have noticed similar blinking...

thanks alot guys...I just never noticed this behavior from the switch before, I guess the combination of a cold morning (long glowing) and frosty rear window tend to pull some amps outta the battery,

aceton or clay for paint overspray

if the spray paint is new/fresh, you can try a clay bar to remove it...this is sold in the deatiling section of the auto parts store,

or you can use a chemical solvent to remove the spray paint...

dont those busses have fuel heaters like our benzs? if the bus will start on the fuel and has a fuel heater then wont it continue to run? maybe fuel heaters are not standard on all diesels...eh

does anyone know if a small oil drip (very minor, barely measureable over 3k miles) at the bottom of the vacuum pump is signifigant of failure. it is an old style pump.

i suppose your wire problem is due to your accident, however i have had a few 'bare wire' episodes myself. all of my episodes pointed to fatigue in the insulator causing bare wire to eventually touch...
