Condensation in tail light lens

My left rubber gasket on my tail light assembly has apparently gone bad as condensation is appearing inside. Dealer wants $28.50 for the gasket which I'm not willing to pay.

My question is, has anybody tried a sealant such as RTV or any other type sealant to seal this area with success?

If so, please tell me what you used!

TIA!
