I too am a bit leery about buying the CD manual for mine, a paper manual is not available for the 126 chassis from what I understand. So far I have depended on this site for what I haven't been able to figure out myself, but I'm sure that I am like many who want a picture of what they are looking for under the hood. Thinking about it off hand I can recall about 6 or 8 different wiring plugs that are very similar in shape (is THIS the one I'm looking for.....). In the past I have sometimes relied on manuals that were close (same manufacturer) and simply adapted to what I had in front of me. I'm tempted to buy a paper manual for the 4 cylinder (190 I think) and adapt since it appears close to what I have with an inline 6.

Viewing the CD on a Macintosh has always been a pain . The boring introduction,Small and blurry images, etc -
Just recently however , while on the computer I got the same Idea that Mike Tangas has suggested. I organized my files (in my case a 300SE) in one folder on the hard Drive and It makes a world of difference.
You skip the movies and find what you are after in a far more comfortable and direct fashion.
Unfortunately as Mike mentioned, there is no indexing but for the numbers on the pdf files themselves, but one can always figure the numbers out from the main & sub function groups .
All this has enhanced the value of the CD for me quite a bit and I makes using it a snap.

I find the CD manuals pretty helpful and actually quite full of information, but it takes time to figure out where everything is. To make it easier, and because the CDs were created for a brain-dead operating system instead of a Mac, I created my own html index (more properly, a Table of Contents), and put all the files on my hard drive. I now have fast access to files and a (fairly) easy way to find them. I've done this for the M103 and M104 W124.

Since I too have a 103, I am interested in learning how you worked that out. I haven't gotten as far as creating a table of content. Sounds very good.
Obviously many of us have found ways to benefit from, as well as improve upon the layout and presentation of the CD's.

I would be happy to supply you (or anyone) with my index. Please email me at drmemory@mac.com and I will send you the html Table of Contents files and instructions on how to set up your drive. This will work for either PCs or Macs. It will be a week or so before I get it ready to send. It's about 1 MB if I remember correctly. Also please note that it is for M103 or M104 W124s only. I haven't gotten around to the V8s or Diesels yet, but I may tackle that down the road a bit.

It's been my experience that the "remove/replace" instructions are mainly in the Maintenance Manual. The actual steps to do them is in either the Engine or Body/Chassis manuals.

I think the CD is extremely helpful.

There used to be a CD index on mbz.org. I can still see the link on http://www.mbz.org/info but it's empty now. This online index was for the W123 CD's so you didn't have to navigate through the MB menus on the CD itself. For some reason it is no longer on the website. Does anyone have an index for the W123 (specifically I need the 300D). Would be great to have an index for the 107 as well.
