Paid $23,700 for 98 E320 with 44K miles in July of '02. At the time they were going for $28-32K. It's been a good car and has received all proper maintenance, parts etc, as needed. It's still extremely clean inside and out.
But, I'm looking to sell it and get a 203 (see my post on "Opinions of '02-'03 C-Class". The 320 has about 113,000K on it now. What's it worth? I think around $11,000 is a pretty fair price? What do you think?

Talking 420 sel

I bought a 1989 420 SEL in 11/05 I paid $400 , its black with chrome fender trim front & rear, interior peanut butter with minor flaws no cuts, rips or fading. has 168,000 miles and only needs minor work, spark plugs, wires, tranny fluid change. I may spend about $400 to $500 to get the car in perfect condition. it had new tires & brakes before being put up for 2years in the garage, only thing missing was the spare tire

plus the car belonged to a famous blues singer from Chicago so I think when I sell it i might get alot more than the 400 i paid & the 500 im gotin to put into it. I plan to put pics on my page in future .

1985 300SD, 245,000 miles, paid $1500.00. It is in good condition, fixed the right passenger side window, replaced the block heater, and am going to replace the front rotors next. Otherwise it is okay.

Paint and interior are in really good condition.

I bought a 1982 300SD Turbo Diesel with 137K miles on it yesterday for $800. Engine and Tranny seem to be in great shape, but does have some cosmetic issues and probably some other stuff I haven't found yet. Hence the joining of this msgboard.

Time will tell...

but I think I made a good deal last August when I bought a 1991 350SD with 204K miles. I looked for a long time for a black on black full size diesel sedan in decent shape. The previous owner did alot of work over the years including A/C upgrade to R134, radiator replacement and cooling system, brakes w/rotors all around, paint, new tires, rebuilt front end, new power steering pump and new battery. The seeping head gasket pushed him over the edge. My investment has been the headgasket and a rebuilt tranny but at 212K miles, I have a car that I can take another 100K miles. The interior is mint and I get offers for it from time to time. Not too bad for $6K...

The '85 cost $2500 sight unseen with what I thought was 160k on the clock. Got down to TX to pick up the car and it turned out that the odo didn't work. I got lucky and she was wonderful until some lady decided to rear end me, doing thirty mph faster than me. Hardly compensation but the insurance co. gave me $3700 for her. I bought the '84 from my brother also for $2500. I think he gave me a deal because the ac and cruise don't work. The ac I fixed today(one loose wire on the compressor) and the cruise is showing symptoms of a bad amp so its getting the one from the '85. Lucky he didn't know about this place or he probably would still have it.

Wink 68 230S newest addition to my "fleet".

Just getting this car; in super good condition -- always garaged in in almost mint original condition (not restored but mech maintained well) I paid $5300, which I believe was a good price for a Fintail of this quality. BC

I bought my 1997 E 300 Diesel in November for $4500.00 from my sister-in-law (I matched what wholesaler was offering). It wasnt running due to fuel line issues. She just had the car detailed. So far I have spent almost 3000 for repairs, including doing some of the work myself (glow plugs, clean intakes, wheel bearings, dash lights). It has 179,000 miles and now running good. I do have a couple of scratches I would like to get taken care of, as well as a tear on the left rear interior door panel.

1980 300d

$1500 CAD On the road (about $1000CA before taxes and fees).
With all the options 300K KM (187K miles). Body is pretty good Solid except for some fender rust. Bit of a Transmission leak.

Dealer thought it needed a new transmission. I've worked out most of the vacuum issues with my mityvac.

I paid $1750 for my 300D and $500 for my 190E. The first is a great value in itself and the 190 is going to be a labor of love (I keep telling myself that, even though I have never driven it and I may in the process become distracted and spoiled by the 300D).

I paid $3,200 for my car in early January (note my join date). The exterior looks great and has no rust, most of the electrical things work thanks to some labor on my part(not the AC, though), and it runs great. Best of all, the engine was rebuilt by MB-licensed mechanics just 107K ago (It has 240K total). It seems a quicky oil change place didn't put the cap on tightly enough when the car had 75K, and approx. 50K later the job had to be redone. This car has all its service records, by the way, and has been taken to the dealer regularly for most of its life.

At the time I thought I was paying a little too much for the car, but I really wanted it. Now that I know more about it I think it was well worth it. I did spend slightly over $1,000 on things I wasn't prepared to do myself, like replacing one ball joint, the windshield, a valve adjustment, and a couple of other things, but I knew about these things when I bought it and I still consider the car a good value.

Now that I've tooted my proverbial horn, hopefully I won't break down on the drive home.
