I'd love to have an XKE with a 3l diesel in it. Learned to drive on a ' XK150 then bought an E type.
meanwhile theres a '62 Benz on CL
stick shift
4cyl
Classic body and I don't see any visible rust.
Headliner intact
not anything I'd be interested in but tossing it out to see if anyone on the Forum is.
no association with the seller

Haha that thing is sweet! Doubt it could be driven on highway in real life but still sweet.

I think I like the fintail body style just a tad bit more tho

That’s a heck of a remote in the dash pocket.

You wonder why he didn't take more care in staging for the photos. Oil jugs in the back seat floor, the hood looks like it's been popped in the first pic, driver's seat inclined back.

First pic I've seen of the particulate trap.

My SDL will be boneyard bound pretty soon. Either blown head gasket or cracked head. I'd like to work on it but I'm soon to be booted from my warehouse/shop - fell behind on rent during COVID largely due to surgery and illness. No way I'm going to find a good place to work on it at this point.

Much stronger now but the landlord is a hardnosed sum beetch. I'm 2 miles from Facebook Hq, the rent is too damned high anyway.

The EGR delete/particulate trap bypass seems well done to me. I might take that off and save it. Also the aluminum radiator is about 1.5 years old, the motor mount shocks one year old, the starter about 3-4 years old. All the ignition switching stuff is a few years old - as some of it is NA now, might be good to pull that. Perhaps the coolant resorvoir as well. It's ugly but it doesn't leak.

I know that P n P will not buy if certain parts are missing, not sure why, but I think I'd be good removing the ones mentioned.

1982 Mercedes 300CD 4-Speed Manual

Says he did the manual swap himself. Asking $3k with 354K miles. The body is mostly tight, a few bad rust spots, interior not horrible bur not good either. Seems if one had a lower miles engine, or if this one still had good compression, and the tranny swap was well done could be a good project car. For someone else.

Back window is delaminating. I thought it only affected the gen 1 cars?

Or maybe it somehow ended up with a gen 1 back window

Amazing to see an SDL with tight body and 117K go for $1500. One wonders at all the possible issues. East coast salt for one, head issues from the particulate trap still in place. But with the space to store it, would be quite the parts rig at any rate.

Body looks nice. Someone bought it but doesn't know how to fix it.
Something was going on with this one, cool project.

Well done.
That will make a sweet road machine, just in time for the apocalypse
Probably just needs the solenoid plunger cleaned up, adjust the VCV to soften the shifting, then go through it.
The mechanic he consulted likely had no knowledge of the lost art of a w123.
Good thing you saved it, a lot of people these days would pawn it for it's weight in scrap.

Yeah it should be a good road machine. I’m digging the manual simplicity of everything 😎 Haven’t had a daily driver w123 wagon since I sold my 85 a few years ago Selling the 85 has been a huge regret.

The starter issue seemed to be related to a rigged up manual glow plug relay that was installed. I detailed my findings in another post. Going to need a few interior bits and some elbow grease on the paint I pressure washed the engine bay this morning and it’s looking much better already. Getting it registered next week and will take it for a good drive and get a list of to do’s together. Starts and stops just fine. Only had it up to about 20 at my storage building parking lot.

I picked it up from the mechanics shop. They know w123’s but to get it to where he wanted it to be would have been a fortune at shop rates.
