I have seen that Smart for sale for months. The turbo problem is easily fixed, probably for around a couple hundred dollars (turbo positioner). I would love to buy the car, but I have seven on my insurance now, and need to sell a few....Rich
BTW, the quote feature on this forum does not work for some reason (at least not for me).

I have read of great dissatisfaction with the MB Smartcars. Seems like about 90% (do not remember the exact number) of folks who purchase them new would not buy another.
However I have never talked with an actual owner.

2006 Mercedes Smart Car Diesel - $2700 (Monterey)
? Are these cars any good ? .
I love tiny little cars but have no knowledge of how good they actually are . Yes, it should be able to get Ca. tags & title if for no other reason because of age and mileage .
