I have a rotary compressor which I took off the texas used 280e motor that I had. It has a mercedes benze label on it IIRC. I am not sure if it is good or not but looks like it could be and bolts on where the york came off.
I'll try to see if I can find it. Is there a way to check it to see if it is good? Sorry, just noticed I got off topic. You are looking for one for the 617.

I've been fallowing this years AC threads. not sure if this is the thread to post this in, but I emailed Klima earlier today after reading about their parallel flow condenser. I asked if they were working on them from the w126 chassis. seems they are already in the works and their hoping to have it out later this year. Hopefully in time for summer.

I talked to a guy in California who does this conversion. I'm not sure if I still have his contact info. But I do remember he said this is the only way to make a w123 cool properly using r134a.

Another POS R4 is about $240 new, the cost is not that much more for a reliable compressor conversion system...about $350 more is well worth it. I gave up trying to seal my new one with stepped ports and dealing with leaky used ones. Never again. I could have long since paid for this conversion considering all the money and time I have wasted with those R4 units.
I have owned my SD for nearly a decade and have probably around 10-15 months of a working R4 system. Pitiful.

I have two 240D Euro parts cars with US aftermarket a/c systems. Both of them have Sandens mounted in the lower left. The bracket is quite simple. A few years ago I googled around and found several aftermarket brackets for mounting the sanden on these engines.
At one point I was considering putting together a kit like this and did a poll on this site, but no one seemed to be willing to pay enough for it, to make it a worthwhile venture. Mounting the compressor and an idler will be the biggest challenge and that really won't be too bad for someone with welding and fabrication skills. Fabricating the hoses will be straightforward auto a/c shop work.

Wow, $400.
Looks like I'll just build another one for my 2n'd car... *sigh* I've been waiting for this but that's a bit spendy for me but probably worth it to get away from an R4. I wonder if it would work with a 709 compressor? ![]() REENIGNE ESREVER ![]()

Grossly overpriced...
Someone will create a pattern for a laser cut bracket for $50 or so The hoses should probably be done at an A/C shop anyway.
