Short film by Blue Nelson

Although it is not diesel related other than showing his 580,000 mile wagon, this is a short film of a recent "barn find" by Blue Nelson. It is very well done, and I am sure you all will like it. It is not about a Mercedes-Benz, nor a Diesel vehicle, but nonetheless it was German made. Enjoy :-)

Might get musty and rusty if stored in a shipping container in the East, but in So California it stays dry inside and, more importantly, shielded from the evil sun.
I wonder if there is a market for car storage like that in the Mojave Desert where dry and land is cheap. Would be for people who have a classic car but no place to store it during life's adventures - overseas post, home relocation, job in LA where a 2 BR house no garage costs $1M. A friend said you can buy used containers for $200 and was considering building a mountain house using them. Maybe a guy in Hesperia could orchestrate it, if nobody is doing it yet.

Lol I just don't understand the end. When they are pulling the wagon with the strap by pushing the Porsche that's not running lol... maybe I'm misunderstanding something tho haha

Is that what it actually looked like when he found it? Or that's after he built it?

The property is up on a mountain, and the road to the bottom is steep. They tethered the Porsche to Blue's wagon with that thick tow strap to slowly get the car down to the bottom of the property. The Porsche might not have had good enough brakes to keep it from getting out of control. It was a worthwhile precaution to take, for a car worth MILLIONS of dollars!!

The car was restored in the 80's, and then put away until recently. The owner passed away, and the children inherited all his possessions (worth MANY MILLIONS of dollars).

Cool car, must have been wild to be part of bringing it back into the world. The part that puzzled me a bit, it almost looked like they waxed it the day before. I mean, I get that storing it in a container would be really good for keeping it out of the sun but hermetically sealed from all dust? Who knows, maybe, there's a lot I don't know.

Very cool video, and very cool car! Worth several mil just as it is probably. They were incredibly good racers, beating Ferraris on short courses.

No idea, but I lived in N. Edwards, CA from 1991 to 1994. A 1960's Lincoln Convertible (cool suicide doors) sat outside in the evil sun at a house a block over, which was sad to see. The body had no rust, but the top and interior was gone. One even gets a little sheet-metal rust after the sun bakes all the paint off. I would find old 1930's cars in the desert with the paint gone but body still sound. Sheet-metal in those days was thicker.
