Post Food Choices

Yes, you're both right on track .

I'm still struggling with this, my coffee intake is a few times /month but when it's bitterly cold I'll drink a BIG go cup in the morning before I hit the road and during summer, I like to have iced coffee with my occasional liver, onions and bacon .

Last night as I was reading abed I was snacking on dried roasted peas and SWMBO came in with two boiled hot links ~ how could I say no ? .

You're so right about what you eat having toxins in it ~ Pops was an Oncologist and got me to quit eating beef for close to 15 years, then I changed girl friends and back slipped a bit .

I took her out to the Sizzler yesterday and had my normal grilled skinless chicken with rice pilaf, she of course had a steak and wonders why I don't.....

I didn't pay much (zero) attention to the grass-fed vs. grain-fed beef thing for a long time. A couple of years ago I got into Mark Hyman and his 'Eat Fat, Get Thin' routine (book title also) and he sang the praise of grass fed beef and butter. Makes excellent sense. One of the best guides to healthy eating methinks is to examine the diet our species evolved on for many thousands of years. That was what our digestive organs evolved on, just the way cows evolved on grass. Word is that grass fed beef has higher omega threes - meat and milk/butter - than grain fed.

I used to think that wheat was primal human food. Not true it turns out, entered human diet around 9,000 years ago. A long time but compared to a half a million years a short time. Not to mention our digestive systems are virtually identical to those of the great apes, and them critters evolved for a long, long time w/o wheat in their diet. Or cows milk. It's a bit odd that butter receives praise but apparently the science indicates that it's far better than cows milk for human consumption. I should study it more.

I've read varying accounts of how long ago we branched off from the other apes on the family tree. Some accounts have it around 10 million years ago - this link has it at 30 million years.

http://theconversation.com/when-humans-split-from-the-apes-55104

Amazing to me though that our digestive systems would be that similar after 30 million years.

Edited to add: Upon finishing the piece they make it clear that the 30m figure is by no means certain. Some have it as low as 6m years ago that we split off from chimps. Pretty large amount of time nonetheless.

Butter, cheese and yogurt transform the milk so that people who have allergic reactions or lactose intolerance to milk can eat them without discomfort. With the cheese of course it will keep longer than fresh milk too.

The taxes came out good. I had not known what to expect with some significant capital gain liability but am getting a significant refund. I asked my accountant what effect the Trump tax cut had and he said very little for me.

I am in my third day of fairly intense activity moving all my stuff from the building I have been in for nearly 20 years. I used to own it but sold in November and am now getting stuff out that I want to save.

I have a semi load or so of general stuff including furniture power tools, doors and some new Oak. Then I have Architectural stuff including original drawings, blueprints, file cabinets etc. This would fill my 20' enclosed trialer I suppose more or less.

I am consolidating stuff in the basement of my home and creating a small office in my garage to create a comfy place with my computer, the bookkeeping station and some Automotive and Architectural artifacts hanging around to make it feel like home....and get me out from under the lovely Mrs. W's feet.

I had three young strong men help me Yesterday morning and will try to get some young blood to help cart away stuff from a room in the basement which will become deep storage for this sort of thing.

Not surprising, no. I'm not nearly rich enough I don't think.

Amazing the amount of stuff some of us have accumulated over the years. In my case I know I probably will never use a lot of it. Yet still hang on to it.

Even the stuff I do use regularily has gotten to sizable proportions. I have made an attempt to only buy what I need almost right away now.

Organising the stuff is still an ongoing major pain. Yet unless you do it also becomes a pain to find it when you need it all too often. You tell yourself you are not a hoarder but wonder about that at times.

I do dispose of things. Many of my technical books are a referance library. I haved used the net instead for a long time. They should go but I still have the majority of them. Although they are going this winter. One way or another. I want the space they consume freed up.

Post Hoarding / Pack Ratting

Guilty as charged .

Because I'm old I don't want to give up a single Tech book .

Al the rest of the crap, I hope to get rid of before I die so my Son won't have to wade through several tons of accumulated crap, tools, parts and vehicles he never cared about anyway .

Yes. A good reason to not keep too many vehicles around. ...also too much bother to maintain multiple vehicles.

I cleaned out most of my unused old auto parts. I am heading to the scale with it. I estimate 2 tons.

It was about 2200#. I got about 140 for that and 17 for an all brass radiator I have been saving for 30 years from a 52 Cadillac hearse I parted out back then. Nice day for it and the yard has put down concrete so I did not have to drive in the mud.

Hard to imagine you couldn't sell a '52 Caddy radiator, I'd think just the original stamped Harrison tanks would hve good value but then I'm a Mechanic....

I advertised it at the caddy forum for at least a year. It was a beautiful thing, clean and straight. $17 scrap value.
