So that nice cop was just feeding the hungry protestors? Perhaps he's not such a bad guy after all.

Lets say the sun rises in the west also while we are at it and what would you do about it. Give me a break. Nobody is saying that they cannot demonstrate. You are trying to drag it out into impossible angles. Is it that difficult to simply protest and do it in a legal fashion? I'm sorry it won't attract as much attention but them are the breaks.

Nobody is talking about that. You are trying to extrapolate something from nothing. There is a way to protest LEGALLY. Do it. If you don't like a certain law, change the law LEGALLY. That is your right. You should not be able to take the law into your own hands. Again, I apologize if things don't move the way you approve of but that is life.

Yes I am sorry that not everything goes picture perfect but we do not live in utopia.

that statement makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. They broke laws, they were moved by a non lethal, temporary technique. Not for them one way or another, but this wasn't Tiniamen Square....

But maybe, just maybe we should try a different tack. Perhaps we should give them milk and cookies and have violinists there to play them some music and during the intermission, ask them to move their protest to a more legal fashion? If that works, perhaps we can try that next with our hardened criminals on death row? Ask them to not re-offend and we will give them a clean slate and a new identity so there is no discrimination for their past offenses? A new face with plastic surgery and some credentials so they can have gainful employment?

If change can't be effected within the framework of the law, it has to be done through other means. Thus far, the means attempted have been basically non-violent and Constitutional.

Frankly, if someone stole money from you, I WOULD support your attempts to take it back, by means fair or foul. Same goes with power. It has been stolen from the populace by lobbyists and special interests. They're just trying to take it back from those who stole it from them.

No outrage here either. Break the law and refuse to move when asked? Risk harm to the officer and harm to yourself if they have to drag you away? There is a harmless way to move you otherwise- but it's unpleasant to the lawbreaker? Yep- that's the path that should be taken. What is the better path ? is the question we all must answer- and especially those that object to this method.

Let the protestors protest as is their Constitutional right. It's not only a matter of freedom of speech; it's also a matter of freedom of assembly. The protestors were assembling, peacefully, on public property (UCD is a public university).

Sounds dangerous. So at anytime if someone feels disenfranchised what you are saying is that it is ok to do as they please to achieve their goal?

And illegal and inconveniencing others but why quibble over details, right?

So let me understand this. If I felt you stole money from me and I cannot prove it but I know it deep in my heart, you would approve it if I kidnapped your kids and fed one thru the meat grinder to show you I am serious? Then why even bother with a law? If you will only abide by a decision as long as it is in your favor then your support is worthless like a fair weathered friend. What you are basically saying is "As long as you (the court) rules my way, I follow your rulings. When we differ, I will go my own way."
