The media, and the hyenas using them, to shill for some publicity advantage out of this are the ones that are really pissing me off.

The Cerberus Group announcing they will be selling off Remington and other gun manufacturers they've bought up, supposedly out of some sense of decency over this. Horse****. That bunch would make Bain Capital and Mitt Romney look like angels by comparison. Same group that bought Chrysler from Daimler, sold off every facility and hard asset but the kitchen sink to get the last dime out of them, and then sold the dried out husk to Fiat. Nothing but PR nonsense.

Dick's Sporting Goods as well, announcing they are suspending the sales of "modern" rifles. WTF do they mean by "modern"? Are they only going to sell muzzleloaders? What about the automatic handguns they carry? And what culpability did they have in this anyway - unlike a gun show, you have to fully comply with background checks and other regulations when buying a gun from them. Another cheap PR stunt.

And every half-ass politician and public figure trying to get out ahead of the curve and be on the right side of public opinion on this, even Bloomberg. The administration announcing they were going to have a cabinet meeting to discuss this tragedy and what needed to be done - more PR crap - how about having a cabinet meeting to resolve the GD fiscal cliff, help get a federal budget passed, AND ACTUALLY DO YOUR ****ING JOBS FOR ONCE?

The real tragedy in all this - if instead of being shot by the mentally deficient young man with a rifle - those 20 kids had instead perished when their school activity bus had blown a tire and went off a bridge into the Thames river - they'd have been lucky to get 30 seconds air time at the national level.

So uh, you can send the tracking number for my AR to my email...

Retmil, I agree with you. If it were a bus, it would not be given this much attention.

I agree too.

Point on buses though. Think of our school shootings as Nepals bus accidents. They both happen with grisly regularity, and our attitudes are the same about it, nothing can be done.

Seems every 20 minutes another overloaded speeding crappy bus plunges off a cliff in nepal.
29 die in Nepal bus crash - CNN.com

From our perspective, we find it ridiculous that they don't improve roads, driver training, capacities, renew fleets, or otherwise focus on and try and alter the problem.

Here, the world is asking the same question of us, and as much as I hate the disgraceful media frenzy and horrible nonsense related, perhaps with such focus, we might actually make some little improvements.

Unfortunately, an irritating side effect is that it has created a hotbutton issue for the jabroni element of congress to evade focusing on the fiscal nightmare of our economy.

Since there are no real gun control laws in place that are actually effective and address the issues there are 20 or so dead kids and we will never know what could have happened.
You really don't understand CT gun laws do you David?

If she did survive she would be prosecuted. As a firearms owner in CT you are VERY responsible for a stolen gun, it has to be reported right away to the police. You also have to report any change of address within 72 hours I think, or you can get in big trouble.

When you buy a firearm in CT its serial number is registered to your name.

Its no different than loading your kid up on vodka, and handing him the keys to your car, than he smashes it into a playground.

Jail time for the owner, plus big civil penalties.

The question that needs to be asked is how come these shootings only happen in predominantly white, rural, and in this case upper class schools.

You would think that in inner city schools, were their are lots of guns mostly illegal in circulation and lots of gang activity related to them would have the monopoly on this but they don't.

So the question is why? I know a lot of inner city schools have much better security and metal detectors at the door. That's part of it.

Those poor Jews in Europe did pretty good in Warsaw against the SS when they managed to get armed.

Lets see fight back or walk quietly into the gas chamber?

Statistically while individual events in Sandy Hook are tragic, well your more likely than not to get gunned down by a government than an individual. How many schools full of kids were destroyed accidentally or on purpose in all the wars fought last century? You can't light off that much firepower in cities and not hit a lot of people who are trying to hide in their basements.

Maybe because you are a 'leave loaded weapons in every room of the house' kind of guy, the concept is escaping you.
Where did I say I did that??

As of yesterday, there's now 3 loaded at all times...the wife wanted a 9mm, and she recently got her LTCF, so we went shopping yesterday.

BTW...loaded does not mean "one in the chamber".
