Question What is your 0 - 60 time on each diesel you own?

My current engine warm 0 - 60 is 12 - 13 seconds.

My -15F cold 0 - 60 is 90 seconds, bad for the engine to do this; but I was running late.

So, how are you still with us, if it took you that long in MI? I'd be terrified to try to merge onto 75 if I couldn't squirt right out in front of people like I can now. Toledo is bad enough.... I guess since we are 50 miles down the road though, the speeding filters down (not that I mind one bit).

I'll test mine.

My sundial is too big to carry. Can anyone loan me a sand filled egg timer?

In oklahoma: 0-60 was 15 seconds every time.
In Colorado: 0-60 is 17 seconds. Slower off the line because of the thinner air.

My wagon is normally aspirated first of all. Second, it has issues. It takes me 30-40 seconds to get to 60, and that if I'm on a flat grade. New injectors, so I guess it's the IP, or mis-adjusted linkages. Tranny is perfect.

I'll have to ask the snail that beat me what my 0-60 time is, I'm guessing it's close to 20 seconds . If I want speed, that's what my turbo boxter engined AWD tin can is for...

On my 300sd........along time!!!

On my 97' Dodge Ram Cummins 5.9 intercooled turbo(extra fuel & 32 psi boost)... 5.7 sec. 0-60 time...SMOKIN!!!!!!!! A true sleeper... the only clue that it has mods are the pillar mounted EGT&BOOST gauges...Ok plus some serious turbo whine & louder exhaust

Mine is somewhere around 12.5 seconds....it roars...

Our 83 is probably closer to 14, but its filters are ancient, I'm going to change them once its back on the road soon, and we'll see if that clears up its sluggish performance and rough idle....it has been getting rougher and rougher and now sputters/runs very rough when cold started....I blame the 2+ year/25k+ filters.... All glow plugs are new....so yeah.

Our van has a 0-60 probably around 7-8 seconds is my guess, if you reeealy floor it, and it rev's that little v6 to 6000ish+ rpm....waaay out of 617 territory... It will haul to 90mph in 3rd....then it goes to 4th, and has about 3-4 more mph and thats about it

I want a cummins!!! *drool

This summer I am plotting to buy a 4 speed 240, if I can find a reasonably nice one......

well yeah

the automatic behind a turboed motor is faster in the drag races. but for normal driving a stick is fine. my 03 dodge has the sixer. i bet with a big load out back, the stick is comparable to the automatic.

in the dodge, shifting smoothly empty is tricky. with the big trailer on it is easy. rev it up to 3k, and shift. it drops to 2k, right in the heart of the torque curve, and accelerate back up to 3k. the stick makes the semi fantasies so easy. you get the perfect rythem going ...like the semis.

also the stick will win all races with the automatics when the automatics are in the shop for repairs.

especially in an older car, the stick is so much easier to keep operating properly, lasts longer and is much more fuel effecient.

makes it harder to hold the cup of coffee while driving though.

it takes hmm a mile or so in my auto 240.

something obscene like 30 seconds, id guess. but 0-60 isnt what the car is about.

in the middle speeds, second or third, stalk in "s" mode, the car feels downright peppy around town, sometimes no need for the kickdown=)

who am i kidding? the kickdown is hands down the most used feature on my 240

dont get me wrong

i am a 240 lover.

but the correct phrase for a 240 auto probably is "relatively peppy". and then only relative to a 240 not in s.

and i am smiling.

Each driven equally I would go as far as to say they will both fail (the stick needing a clutch...the auto needing a rebuild).

Obviously clutch is easier to change though

not to the average schmo!

two clutch repairs would equal one automatic repair. that sounds about right to me. dunno, though. my neon has 140k and is on the original clutch.

240 has 147k and guess which *i* feel will need a new transmission first?

i really *really* hope they dont both go at the same time, or back to back.

It takes me all the way to Toronto to get to 60mph. I live in Rochester.
