My 1976 300D can do 0-60 in a nice 24 seconds. I think my start of delivery might be off a tad, im going to check and adjust it, that will help my 0-60 times. Spec for the W115.114 with OM617.910 is 22 seconds so im not far off.

The 1979 280CE can do it in about 11 seconds, to bad it gets 16MPG.

haha... my NA 300D as I tell my friends, "goes 0-60 in 35 minutes!" then I add, "and gets 35 miles to the gallon". If I want to go fast, I just hop into the G35 but I live in the Seattle area where traveling 60 MPH is rare unless it's a weekend [early] morning.

11 Seconds for an M110? I'd have thought it'd be quite a bit faster than that.....that's barely 1.5-2 seconds faster than a 300D turbo....

MB says 0-60 is 10.5. Im doing it in 11 seconds so its normal. The M110 wiht a 4 speed manual will do it in about 9.8 seconds.

It may not be perfect, but a heck of a lot more accurate than using a stopwatch and a speedo!

Check this one out:

Typical Mercedes driveline loss with an automatic transmission is right around18%. Assuming 120hp at the flywheel, that's about 98hp at the rear wheels. The big variable here is weight... you can't know the precise weight of the car without putting it on some digital 4-wheel scales. The published curb weights don't include fuel or passengers. But anyway, spec for a 1985 300D is right around 15 seconds, so performance sounds about right.

If the speedo has been verified with a GPS to be accurate within 1mph, you'd be surprised how accurate the stopwatch method is.

Personally, I use a Race Tech AP22 performance meter... much more capability than the G-Tech, and I've done multiple runs at the dragstrip where it proved to be accurate within 1% for both ET and MPH, after dialing it in. Here's the spec sheet:

My 0-60 in my manual 70 220D is 31 seconds!

I'm going to be replacing some parts and hope to bump the time up, what's a sound time for the 220D?

My son was only visiting with his iPod, so I no longer have access to it. Probably a good thing for my cars! I did allow for passengers and fuel in weight.

I obtained BHP figures on several occasions that seemed wrong. I think there is some learning on how to set the Dynolicious software up and how to drive the car when using it. Not sure what the wheelspin and squat on my SL does, but at times I got believable results and at other times, ones that were completely wrong. The latter ones were more than likely due to slight movement of the iPod during initial take-off.

By the way, where did you find the transmission loss info? I couldn't find 0fficial MB figures anywhere. I did see numbers quoted from 15 to 40%, so didn't really know what to believe.

In the 300D, if I manually work the automatic selector, I can get to 60mph in approx 12 seconds. If I let the automatic shift itself, closer to 16 seconds.

When the turbo kicks in, it really moves.
