Does it make any sense at all to open up CCU to try and find the fault?

Are there any other sources to check for the CCU or just figure that Programa makes the most sense? I think I have a healthy CCU in a ’82 300d and wondering if I could substitute here?

Thanks
Bill
Is the low pressure switch jumped during this test?

You lost me with that one! What do I need to do with the LP switch and where is it?

I did exactly what you said to in your #73 post.

Yes, but, before we condemn the CCU, we must check to be sure the low pressure switch is closed.

Look on the dryer. There are two switches. Pull the terminals from the lower switch and jump them together with an alligator clip.

Perform the test again.

Still same result...no reading with jumped lp switch and volt meter hooked poitive to #5 socket and neg. to #10, with key in #2 position. Tried all modes, including economy.

Let me correct statement in previous post. I said “ no reading” when actually got .25 volts which for this test, I assume, is virtually same as 0 volts.

I’ll wait to hear back.

Thanks

Brian I have a 1987 300D as well and my AC problem is a bit different than his. The compressor engages and cools but kicks off once you engage the accelerator. So as long as I'm already accelerating down the highway she blows cool but the moment I stop and then re-engage the accelerator she kicks off. Any ideas on whats going on here?

Bumping this up for the heat.

I replaced my serp belt yesterday, and also flushed the power steering fluid. In the process I got some on the belt so now it slips a touch. The compressor runs for 3 seconds then shuts off. I'm hoping the mismatch in RPMs is the only reason for this as the AC worked great beforehand.

EDIT: As it turns out I installed the belt incorrectly. Oops. It was slipping on the crank.
