Thanks.
Sorry to say that your car probably has the early climate-control system with the servo unit on the firewall--an ill-conceived contraption that brings coolant into proximity with current. They crack, they leak, they corrode. They're also costly to replace. See http://www.thepartsbin.com/mercedes-ac-servo.html

I'm happy to say I have no direct experience with them. But it's on the Fuse 10 circuit, I believe -- I'd look there rather than the blower motor to find out why it's blowing. Unplug the servo and see if any fuses melt.

Good luck --

Wow. Your're not kidding when you say costly. And a 100% failure rate ! That unit or one that looks exactly like it is by my air cleaner by the right (right is right when sitting in drivers seat right? ) front tire well.

I believe it is on the same circuit. From a Haynes wiring diag. The Red wire from blower motor goes to a (numbered 82) Vacuum switch, 175 mbar, master swich . And from there , a green and yellow wire goes to (numbered 71) Servo assembly, automatic climate control.

Thanks. I will give it a go on my lunch break.

Thanks

I'd like to see the pics if you do. Mine's chirping and lubing it up didn't last longer than a day. I'm hoping I just need to replace the brushes.

Hee Hee. Too funny.

Regarding my blown fuses., I unplugged the servo and it still blows fuses. I got one a junk yard for $20 just in case. I have not had a chance to unplug the fan again.

The few times I've taken my car out this winter, I haven't had any problems either. Fixed itself.

Blower motor was culprit

Replaced with one from pullapart i got for $15.00 . Works good now. No blown fuse. Now i can refurbish my old one when i get around to it.

How long did it take to take timewise to get to the motor? and how long did it take altogether to finish the job? i imagine putting things together was probably faster than taking them apart?

I just got an used motor and plan to embark in this replacement task. However we also have 30% chance of rain this upcoming weekend, so i want to somewhat lol plan my day.

Thanks
