I've always wondered how possible it would be to install a 617 turbo in a TN van. I'm pretty sure MB did a few at the factory. There were a number of aftermarket turbo installs for the 616 and 617 engines in that chassis. I have the impression that a different intake and exhaust manifold was used to move the turbo forward and up I think to get adequate clearance.

What is you opinion of the strength of the body/chassis once that right side doghouse wall is removed?

Yes. The engine is in. I would like to just lower it as possible to avoid modification in the cabin. The front axle is blocking this intention. I could stole cm here and there, but i am looking to have les modification as possible.
And the point B in my schematic is lower than i drew it. I had a strong picture in my head before the engine was in and propshaft connected to transmission. Now the point B,C and D will go down for the same dimension. At this moment i just do not know how much. Now i made it lower for 2.5 cm. But i can not go jet and drive with cower box on, because cover will hit engine for sure. I am almost thinking to turn it back to original high, complete all other modification and run without cower box , and when everything runs good, look to concentrate to make it excellent.
I have to add to my list also exhaust gas modification and different path of wirings between alternator
and engine starter. And maybe more else. But surly i my say any work does not troubles me because i will be happy when i will finally enjoy the ride without smoke behind me and when i will feel dissent response of the engine to my stimulations.
Thank you.

On the attached picture are dimensions that i have care about.

Can I cut “horn” marked with red circle in attached picture?
(if I cut it away there will be les need to lower engine)

I don't have a TN FSM - but if you have one or can get hold of one I imagine there's a limit between the leaf spring and the bump stop

if you could find that information then you'd have a better idea...

I don't see why not - does anyone know what this mounting point is used for?

Is it perhaps a mounting point for a stay for the air filter in the original set up / configuration on a W201?

The engine runs. I have got engine starter and made it work yesterday evening. I had some problem to get air from the fuel pipes, but finally…

My valuation is that engine runs OK. Today I will get air from the clutch and I will test it on the road. Then I will say.

And make short explanation.... of all

Is the ALDA line connected? We'd like to see pictures of the completed job also.

X2 on the pictures!

Agree with the ALDA comment form Kerry - we were talking about the connections previously...

...but do you also get maximum travel on the throttle? You must have made some modifications there too...

Do you mean that to get the turbo to spin up properly you need to drop down a cog?
