Good to know. Thanks. I just like the 115's, I cant help myself. Im only 30.

Last question, did the 617's come with a 4speed manual? Or is their a 5 speed I can bolt up?

I think the five cylinder models WithOUT Turbo came with either the four speed or five speed....

AC.... try to find a ' type one' AC system.... type two and three are very complicated inside the dash... if that ever starts to go wrong..

in other words... look for that ' vertical ' temperature wheel on the dash... and avoid it...
manual type one only has switches and levers...

So is everyone just putting the 115's out to pasture when the motor goes (and selling parts)? Or does anyone try and keep them going? Its such a classic to just strip them all.

I would prefer that to a non turbo W115. I have a turbo 617 with a 4 spd using a 616 flywheel. Yes there are vibration issues but as long as I don't use fourth gear below 45 mph or third below 25, it isn't a problem.

I wasn't aware anyone had ever done a 617 turbo into a 115 body. They handle better than a 123, so it might be a nice combination to drive if not to work on.

No call back so it probably sold. Would anyone try and rebuild this motor? I need some positive support.

I do. I really want a 115 with a turbo. But I'm in no position to do it. And this one has rust. One day if I win the lottery, I'll be back with a cool build.

If I had my own machine shop and a lot of time on my hands I might. OTOH if I had a 115 that needed an engine I'd probably be looking for a good used 616 or 617 to swap in.

I'm gonna sleep on it. I found a nice 617 non turbo with 40k on a rebuild for $1,000. And an older 617 turbo for $450.
