This reminds me of 60's era CJ5 Jeeps -- my buddy's radiator crapped out, and the original style radiators are available, but cost 550 bucks. An all metal radiator from a straight 6 mustang nearly bolts up and is $100, and has a much higher cooling capacity.

Pretty soon we may all be getting creative as these cars age. I looked on that site for an all aluminum radiator for my '87 300D and it's not available. I was thinking of getting one to have on hand.

I believe this radiator is the same one for all the 6 cyl Diesel engines in 124 & 126 chassis.

the radiator in the later W124 diesel has a dedicated port on the radiator where the overflow tank connects to, in the older model the lower hose pipe has a T in it for this purpose.

I have replaced a radiator in a 87 300D turbo - and used the later style radiator, used the later model lower hose pipes and it fit perfectly.

My radiator has a slow leak under pressure at the top seam where the plastic meets the core. I wish there was some way to repair it - other than putting sealant in the system and taking a chance on stopping up the heater core. I've thought about bringing it to a radiator shop and see what they can do with it.

The 300D radiator is more widely available though since that car was sold worldwide.

I've now run into this same issue. Neither of my local euro jobber guys can get me 1, and it's NLA from the dealer. I can't bring myself to spend $700usd on a Wizard rad (i'm sure they're excellent, but my SDL needs a bunch of other work also..). I've emailed the guys at $220 as their rad is showing that it's not available.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

I would call Genesis and find out for sure, actually talk to a live person. Tell them that you have several "friends" that have ordered them, and they are a hot item. That might be enough to get them moving quicker.

I called Genesis earlier this week and waited for a live person. I was told they would have more about a month from now. Hope I can hold out that long.

I just also spoke to a live person and was told to call back next week. They get their rads from China.... Not thrilled about that, but if you need a rad, not sure who much choice I have right now

i have mine in hand now. The quality is 'ok' - not more than ok. The welds are a bit ugly. It looks like it'll fit but the original rad is now not leaking (i know that's temporary) and given that i've got lots of other things on the go, I'm going to hold off replacing it (and carrry distilled water and coolant in the trunk...)

I did have to take mine to my rad shop to get tested. They found the smallest of leaks on a weld and fixed it. They used CA glue and baking soda. You would not believe how strong this mixture is after it cures (only about two minutes). It is worth the effort to check the rad before installing it......Rich

If anyone is looking for a hard-to-find radiator, I can makeup custom aluminum radiators in any configuration. I would need the original for a pattern, and I'm afraid the cost would be quite a bit more than $220. But they won't leak, guaranteed.

I ended up getting the rad yatzee bought, and installed it in my car today. Bad weather prevented me doing a test drive, but the fitment went ok. I had to modify the fan shroud slightly.
