WOOHOO! P-Day!
Last weekend was a bit bizarre...cat-fight in front of the stage at KornFest...and I was the only one to stop/curtail (pun intended) the "festivities" 'til backup arrived...3 arrests (DC and Battery)...that's what happens when you mix brew and corn...

Had problems with the GUI in Colfax...intermitent operation by different people trying to access the site...found out this past afternoon that the IP folks had been upgrading servers in Louisiana, and for some reason, our IP Address, at the site was off by one digit in the 4th group...instead of xxx.xxx.xxx.x49, it was xxx.xxx.xxx.x48...some folks could still see the GUI, others couldn't...so I'm up and on the road this morning around 0800 to meet with the field IT/IP guys, then hopefully have this episode in IT Fun wrapped up by 1300 today...

Hey folks! Stay dry and drive safe...the life you safe will be your own!

Friday again! What a relief. Clearing out my basement is moving along pretty well. Craig's List seems to be working pretty well to get my stuff placed into other hands and lightening the load of stuff I have to be responsible for.

I might finally go kayaking this weekend after having talked about it all summer. Hope everyone else has a terrific weekend.

tonight i have to bid farewell to a co-worker and his wife as they head across the country to start their new life together. Then hopefully alittle shut eye which I need, because the slut upstairs keeps waking me up at 3:00am when she lumbers in. Hope you guys have a good one.

Work today, house stuff tonight and all weekend. Scraping. Painting. Barn door building. Oh - and putting brakes and a radiator on a friends Integra in exchange for a few hours behind a paint brush.

Dear friends from CT coming back down this afternoon to help over the weekend. If they get in early enough, house gets put on hold for a few hours and we go hang out at Joanie's. BYO guitars, glockenspiel, voice, wine, etc etc etc and Joanie cooks. Customers help (we brought 'maters from the garden last week, Darling Wife and Joanie used in 'em in some killer panninis) and everybody has fun.

We also took Ma and a bottle of sangria last week (good gawd - that was only a week ago and/or good gawd - has it already been a week?!?). Seemed a fitting way to celebrate 'news' from her oncologist that she may not see any additional tumor growth (granted, chances are pretty slim - but chances > zero was good enough to take Ma out to play for a couple hours!).

Yes, the front wall opposite of steps will be tied in with the intake of the tubeaxial fan from the downdraft paint booth. You can't see in picture as the forming is still up but there is a 16" duct below the concrete in the dirt work. I have yet to figure out a control mechanism for the volume as the fan is capable of pulling 10,000 CFM. The pit is 25' long so there is going to be some trial and error. The cost for an off the shelf pit ventilation system is ridiculous

Nursing some rather nasty sumac boils/welts/lumps/generally nasty looking oozing sores on my arms and legs (4 rounds of contact, no reaction, then bam - I be screwed).

Lots of house progress in the past week, thanks in no small part to amazing friends (two of whom last night drove down from CT AGAIN to help out this weekend!).

Back porch got yellow:

As did the front (mid-day shot - all of downstairs got to yellow and upstairs to bare wood by nightfall):

Me and the boys got to relax for a minute while Darling Wife documented the first completed barn door:

Other two doors are built, and should be painted by the time I get home today. Weather permitting, we're hoping to get the barn prepped and at least primed this weekend. Renting a lift Saturday to do the peaks on the house and barn - power tools in mid-air FTW!

Ma is staying with us post-eye surgery, and while she needs quite a bit of attention, she is being an absolute sweetheart. Seems that getting the tumors in her head down in size took the pressure off the "activate snarky mean and nasty Ma mode" button. Progress!

That's an impressive pit ... AND a downdraft paint booth?? I'm drooling.

Do you have a thread time-lining this anywhere? If not, I hope you start one. I'd love to see the progression to a finished work space.

You guys have been busy as bees! I wish I had half the energy and ambition.

Glad to hear "Ma" is doing better!

I have no idea what's going on today/this weekend! It kind of snuck up on me. It looks like we're going to get deluged this weekend from tropical storm D(anny?) which means I've got 4 lawns to mow tonight otherwise I'll be breaking out the combine again. My parents get back from their 7 week tour of the perimeter of the U.S. (with the longest stays in OR for a meeting and Taos, NM with my sis) so I've got a lot of mowing, trimming and weeding to catch up on before they get home early next week! At least it looks like Sunday will be decent weather-wise.

Only took me a week to work off the 5 lbs. of vacation weight put on so it'll be light beer with the pizza tonight.

I made the 500 mile trip to Los Angeles for the big Mercedes Benz tour (mostly SEC's) about 15 cars, tomorrow, with their owners, set from Malibu to Dana Point on the west coast.

S classes are wonderful road cars!!

Today is free so I am off to meet user name "Jorn" for coffee and convo in West LA in about an hour.
