You demonstrate your incurious bias well enough w/o me having to get all mean and stuff.

Such as: you seem to buy Burkett's book as gospel, blithely unaware that his claim about having found out 1700 phony Vietnam vets over a period of ten years is so flimsy as to be laughable. That's 2.15 days per outing.

Guy should be a private eye. He'll make millions. And how does one even hear about 1700 phony vets? There weren't anywhere near that many in the Winter Soldier investigations.

Plus, he says that the whole WS investigation was a lie. Dude, I saw the film. Them guys had photos and evidence to back up what they were saying, at least some of them did. I tried to find his book here at libraries -- no luck so far.

But hey, who am I kidding? You'll greet this with fingers in the ears and "I CAN'T HEAR YOU, I'M SINGING TOO LOUD, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA . . . . . . "

Guess you'll have to read the book. And buy a logic hone.

Yes, it worked then. then it was a good thing. But will it work today? Today, that is seen as weakness to be exploited. Just because my father prospered as a shoemaker doesn't mean I will today. Things change.

Sometimes, sometimes not. Taking time to gain trust can degrade the intel.

How did you come out with 2%? Why not 0.5%? Why not 10%? Still with that "hearts and mind" crap, aren't you? It hasn't worked before, has it?

Edit: Know why the "hearts and mind" crap hasn't worked? Here is my take on it. You are trying to make something that works in a certain frame work in all frames. You can talk to me all day long about your museums, art galleries, philosophy, etc, etc. However, your gibberish will be falling on deaf ears because I am being bombed out of my gourd. Also, my kids are starving and life is precarious at best. First things first. Get the place stabilized. After that, you can win all the hearts and minds. Till then, you have NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH, etc, etc. When you have stability, you can debate the finer points of morality, democracy, etc, etc. Till then, all you have is "blah, blah, blah". That is what any of that stuff sounds like when my belly is rumbling. That is what it sounds like when the bombs are going off around me.

Know why as Americans, we can do all this crap of being merciful, etc, etc? Because our lives are not YET under the gun all day long. As such, we can delve in all the frivolous activities. Like I said, do whatever it takes to stabilize the situation. After that, we can discuss how you want to win the hearts and minds. Before stability comes, all you have is just meaningless sounds.
