The "little" Zimmerman outweighed TM by 29#.

Personally, I strongly felt GZ was going to be found guilty; however, I understand why he was found innocent, and respect the jury's decision. It's not the events that lead up to the incident, but rather the actual incident, and who initiated the attack that matters now.

The issue to reconcile is whether this could've been aviodable - which I believe it very easily could have. The right to bear and carry a concealed must come with a greater responsibility; such as a responsibility for the individual to reasonably avoid putting themselves in a situation where they would need to use their weapon.

GZ pursued TM and put himself in a situation where he ended up using his piece. Personally, I don't believe he should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon.

Also, and more to the point....

It wouldn't have happened had M not popped Z in the nose and beat Z's head on the ground.

The reason I said, "More to the point" is that it is not illegal for one citizen to follow another citizen. The standard for legally preventing that is rather high -- you have to get a restraining order. So Z maybe a dim bulb but he did nothing extraordinary or illegal.

Do you think that the gun that Zimmerman had in his possession emboldened him to act incautiously? Zimmerman was advised by the 911 dispatcher to not attempt to follow Martin, but this advice was apparently disregarded. If he had stayed in his car, likelihood of a physical confrontation with Martin would have approached zero.

I am trying to remember the earlier photos of GZ.....seems he was not as heavy back then as compared to today. But I doubt that his life has had much physical activity since that night. And I would imagine that now he has daily threats which keep the blood pressure elevated.

He looks like about 220 or 230 to me now. He looked a lot more fit in the beginning of his "fame".

Yeah and the sucker punch the little child laid upside Z's head while he dropped his guard taking out his phone meant all the world of difference.

Z gained LOTS of weight while behind bars. I guess the prison kitchen was stocked with that Sara Lee stuff.

There are a number of posts in this thread that lead me to believe that many of you think that Z had an advantage over the kid because he was larger. All I can say is that you must not have ever been in or even seen many fights. The bigger guy does not always have an advantage. A smaller, agile guy WITH RESOLVE will whip an out of shape guys ass most of the time.

A smaller, agile guy, juiced up on drugs will change the situation even more. Has anyone ever seen a toxicology report on Martin?
