Benzmac, I can't resist offering my 2 cents on your speedy recovery, and moral support! You have a large metro Atlanta following, and we would be glad to look for this truck. It's a long shot, but how about the paint color left on yours? Fellow member Delta Dave and I work at a facilty that has about 10,000 people, we can get some of them to help! It's a long shot, but the least we can do for you after all you have done for us!

Best Regards,

Just wanted to add my own offerings of hope for a speedy recovery, and that both you and the jerk that hit you see a fair and just outcome arise out of all of this. And don't hesitate to ensure that everything is checked out from a health standpoint - chronic back pain goes from annoyance to limiting disability in no time flat.

As a side note (and this goes to EVERYONE that has ever offered advice or help on this site as well), I also want to express my thanks for helping put together what is truly a public service. Every technical newbie that has passed any amount of time on this site has learned something that will help them take better care of their car, gain more confidence in dealing with their mechanic, save money, and make their everyday lives safer and more enjoyable.

best wishes, and thanks (to all),

anthony

Donnie,

I missed out on all the breaking news while on vacation. Sorry to hear about the wreck, glad to hear you're feeling better. The amount of damage the other guy must have sustained, he should be heading to a body shop soon. I'm sure you have contacts at some of the loacl shops who can throw out a few feelers, the guy is bound to show up.

The possibility that the offender will come through the same intersection again is good. If you do see him, get the plate and call the local cops. As much as you would like extract your pound, don't place yourself in physical or legal jeopardy. Be a good witness not a hero.

All the advice about seeing a Doc, was on the mark. Years ago, I was involved in a rollover at highspeed. Totalled a nearly new 85 Crown Vic in a chase (I was passenger - what a fun ride). Felt OK, figured I'd be sore in the morning and didn't go to the ER. About a year later the neck problems manifested. Every now and then I get a stiff neck to beat the band, to the point I can't hardly turn my head. Not good in my line of work, so I use a little sick time, recoup and get back to work. I more than likely had a hell of a case of whiplash, that would have probably been diagnosed and treated had I gone to the ER.

Benzmac...having been thru a similar experience not too many years ago I can only strongly recommend you take the advice of all your friends and see a "GOOD" doctor!
I didn,t until the pain started to get unbearable some 3 weeks later, and I,ve been suffering ever since. All because i had the "I,ll be ok" attitude to it all.
get a thorough physical and X-rays are advised also.
forget the wreck, forget the 'banana' that ran away, ...........go and get it checked out
hope everything is well and you come through it without any complications! I really do

Benzmac,
Glad to hear that you are Ok. The best thing to do is take it easy for awhile until your back is better. The way you describe what the truck driver did to you makes me think he has done this sort of thing before.
Get better soon.

Donnie,

First i would like to say I am glad that you are not in worse shape than you are already in.

I agree with everyone that you must seek a physician and get physical therapy done.

The car can be replaced, but your back cannot.

I was in an accident 11 years ago. My back is still messed up to this day. once every so often, I wake up and have trouble moving. My back will never ever be healed, and I am consistantly having back problems to this day.

Just a few months back, I was reaching for something not a hard reach, and a rib just up and popped out of my back. Another time, my back froze up on me compleetely right before a golf tournament I was playing in. 3 hours at the chiropractor and I was looser but my game was way off.

I now cannot sit for extended periods of time without getting back pain.

When I take long trips, I have to get up and walk around for 15 minutes every 2 hours otherwise my back will tighten up and start to spasm like no tomorrow.

My spine is now curved inwards slightly as well, and my posture is not perfect. If I try to stand up with proper posture, my back starts going crazy after a few minutes.

All this because I was in an accident and did not get my back taken care of properly.

I wish you the best of luck in your recovery.

I really hope you get that bastard.

Alon

Donnie- I'm glad to hear everything is so far OK.

Take your time, and let EVERYONE you know to be on the look out. Also, send out a FAX to almost every bodyshop and mechanic in your area, to be on the look out, esp. for the paint of your car on a a truck. Let all the local insurance offices also know. You never know what might happen.

Best of luck and take care.

I hope all is OK, but isn't this post 1 year old and has been brought back by someone trying to post numbers?
