Nope, it was in NC, and the guy was an out-of-state transplant driving, I'm sad to say, an MB convertible, with New York plates.

It is with much pleasure we wish to announce that ForcedInduction has decided to join us. This is a real win for the club to have a person like Forced, who has for much longer than many of us have been on the forum, stood up for the basic principles that this club is based on. We call on all members of The Grumpy Old Diesel Owners Club to recognize him as one of us and make him feel very welcome !!!

Thank you! I'm only half the "over 50" requirement, but I think we all know I've bent worse rules before...

Grumpy ??

There is an ole' saying

"I used to get mad..
Now I just get disgusted"

Don't let ignorant people spin you up
Stupidity is its own reward

I will however apply for membership as I am 57 and gettin grumpier every day.. I think it's a lack of patience thing
..
but on the other hand

I don't think I want to be a member of a club who would let someone like me in it. ( Grocho Marks)

I promised myself I would take on fewer battles this year. I have just turned 51 and already it looks like this years will double from last years. The older I get it seems I find all the words to REALLY dig in and let what ever idiot I come across who's determined to mess with me really have it. Maybe if I make one of them cry I might be satisfied for a while LOL! I repair sewing machines as part of my living and have discovered that ALL the others in this state who do this REALLY are really out to screw old lady's and that REALLY FROSTS ME! I am happy to do for 25.00 what the others charge 70.00 for.

I think we currently have 25 members. Oh one is on a "forced" holiday. If Forced ever gets back, I guess we will have to make him a "Gold Member". I believe we have one or 2 Gold Members already. You may all work out what it takes to get that "Badge of Honor"!
I see we have several placing posts on here saying they wish to join but not actually joining, a bit weak isnt it !!
It would be good if members could acknowledge their membership in their signature to insure that members refrain from flaming each other.
No throwing sand in your brothers eyes!! There are plenty of others to aim your grumpiness at !!

Twenty five years ago my then new bride and I went on a cross country trip, and at one point we were in Texas to visit a favorite uncle I hadn't seen in a while. He took us out in in his big 'ol Cadillac to see the sights of Plano(!). At some point I decided I needed to write down some nugget of information that he said, and I reached to open the glove box to look for a pen or pencil. He put his hand on my arm to stop me, saying, "Son, don't open that unless you mean bidness. It's a state law here that every car has to carry a handgun in the glovebox. It's how we settle disputes at four-way stops."

Another amazing thing I remember from that trip... we were on blue highways, not interstates. At some point out in the middle of the sagebrush nowhere we pulled up at a little store that had one of those arrow trailer signs advertising "Kickapoo joy juice - HERE!" flashing. Well, with a sign like that we had to go in. The wife wanted to pick up some wine, since we had had the experience of being in dry counties this looked like an opportunity. The proprietor kind of squinted at us when we mentioned that we'd like to buy some wine, and he led us to a nearly bare shelf at the back of the store where he had four dusty packages of boxed wine, unknown vintage. We looked doubtful, so he knocked a couple dollars off the price just to get rid of one. I later asked my uncle about that place, and he said "Oh, yeah, I know that place. It's between two dry counties. Very practical arrangement - neither county claims it, so they get to sell liquor. They do good bidness." I think it was called the Sugar Shack or something like that.

Apparently. He seemed to have racked up several in short order in a heated discussion about ULSD.

Forced is very passionate in his beliefs, his heart is in the right place, in time I think that with a little guidance from other members he will become less aggressive in his approach in here. He has much to offer technically. There will always be those that set about to try and bait others in here, they offer nothing & just set about trying to make trouble. Think about when you were at school, it was never the initiator that got into trouble, always the guy that reacted to the initial provocation. The same thing happens in here.
