I will be there ! I got about a half dozen projects with the Sleeper cooking and I am thinking they will all come together around the same time. The car won't have my turbo engine. I am thinking that will be next year some time. BUT, all the mod's and upgrades are transferrable to the turbo engine (except the mod'd manifolds, but the M&W injection will be transferrable, et cet). My car is not the cool red like yours, but it's pretty peppy even with the tired 77 HP NA. We can drag ... LOL ...

I am thinking the heat, still healing from surgery, and family will put me in the end of July range for most of the major mods and upgrades to be bolted in. BUT, once they all come together, I am thinking it will be the peppiest 300D NA 77 HP engine out there ... LOL. After that, its just wrapping up the turbo engine and swapping over the mod's and upgrades and changing engines ...

My wife just got a really nice digital camera which also permits video taping. I have no idea how to use it, BUT ... I got two teenagers who are techno-savy. The epic event -- two 617.912 NA engines pitted against each other in the Palmetto State will be etched in stone or at least digits. It is on !

With Greazzers Sleeper and my own BioBenz there won't be a drop of petroleum involved.

A/C Items
I couldn't upload the document itself, but here's a nice booklet on the Sanden A/C Compressor.

Some ROLLGUY magic
Here is the beginning of the A/C install. Because I am waiting on the gasket kit to try to fix my compressor, there will be some delays. I was hoping today would be the day I drove around like royalty with 33 or 34F air blasting through my vents and the South Carolina summer heat would no longer be an issue. Well, another week won't kill me.
I have to compliment ROLLGUY on the percision of his parts. I was thinking before hand, because of my last night's events, something will go wrong. AND, I almost thought that. I bolted up the plate and determiend there is more than enough room for the massive bolt. However, I realized that the bolt is off by the tinest of hairs and it would not work that way. So, I had to remove the 3 plate bolts and go with the big bolt first and solo. That was a lot of wrenching since I was not sure the dog ear off the block is threaded or not. Well, after about 10-15 minues of non stop wrenching, bingo. I strongly suggest a gearhead wrench for this. 19mm. A socket would have been very very tight. Then, the 3 bolts. In otherwords, I could not put the 3 bolts, even very loose and then the big bolt. Rather, it's the big bolt and then the 3 plate bolts. Guess what? Fit like a champ, looks like it was made by the best German engineers out there. No fiddling, no "weird" feeling when you tighten, et cet. So, I got the 3 plate to block bolts and the massive bolt which mates to the pulley installed. Pulley time. It will turn a few revolutions before hitting the vacuum pump. So, removal, hit the vice, and installed without the pulley and then installed the pulley. Not sure how the pulley is supposed to be oriented, but I got it out around 75 degrees. PLEASE correct me. So, I can say the sequence of this install for the 617 NA (non-turbo) engine is as follows: Big bolt with gear head wrench to make the job doable, but be prepared to wrench for a while. 3 plate to block bolts, then pulley assembly without pulley. Final is pulley. I am thinking tonight maybe install the condenser. It is super hot and my shorts are already soaked, so its time to quit anyways. Getting ready to head out now, but I figured I better post this before I forget and I did promise ROLLGUY some pictures. |
