Sorry, I don't have a good program to shrink photos and reduce resolution so I couldn't come up with a file small enough for this site. You'll have to visit my makeshift webpage below. There are two photos.

KaRaKaN- Thanks. We all get compliments on all our cars. The W123 Series are very nice cars. Here's a link to group shots I made. Unfortunately I didn't have my 300CD at this time. I need to make new ones sometime soon.

Here is Helga overlooking Lake Tahoe. I took off her badges to buff out the trunk and hadn't put them back on yet...She is an 80 240D.
Unfortunately I am donating her to a charity, unless someone comes up with $500! She needs a short block as #'s 1&4 cylinders have pockets worn into the walls, and #1 leaks at idle.
New chain and redone head. Starts right up!

240 Ed-
Those are both very beautiful cars, especially the 240D, is that the original paint? It's very odd to see a mercedes without the badging.

Whenever I see another coupe I just don't wanna sell mine. Until I find another one nicer that is. In fact I haven't seen another nice one in a long time.

I kinda wanna check out the 36k mi. 300CD that Hatch & Sons has
www.hatchandsons.com
It must be a beauty..

hahah thanks Peyton, but it hides a lot!

-rust
-non operative rear windows?
-sunroof problem
-oil leak, which I'll look into in the next few days
-A/C leak...

hehe the only reason why I still wanna keep it is that the body is in good shape especially since it's a NE car.. and it has a strong engine, tranny. It drives well and has a very clean interior!

Daimler;

the 240D has been changed from its original red, to a very pretty burgundy. I wish I knew what color it was so I could get some touch up paint.
A moot point as I must shuttle it off to the charity. Seems no-one
wants a car which needs a little bit of work.

The coupe tears at my heartstrings. It is such a pretty car, no rust, new paint, sunroof works fine, AC too, but needs a quick charge. New Avon tires, idler arm bushes, heater controls, etc. Too cheap at $3800, but there you are...

Holson-
I was taking a look at your photos of the CD. I like that wood grain shifter you have. Did you put it in? Where did you get it from? and how much was it? I got a front license plate for my car as a Christmas gift from my brother. The same brother also gave my father and other brother a pair of door cupholders. My mom got my dad new mercedes floormats. Did anybody get anything for their car for Christmas? I would really like a wooden shift knob though.

-Jamie

P.S. Merry Christmas to all!

I got the shift knob from www.capitolwest.com
To be honest the shift knob isn't a perfect fit. It's off a little as in the shaft isn't exactly the same as the original. However it fits and it's kinda cheap for a wooden shift knob. I think I paid $30 for it.

or $40.

I like the ones from this site
http://www.eris-car.com/
I might order a leather one from them...

Unhappy

Holson-
Thanks for the reply. Other than the loose fit of it, are you satisfied? I really would like to get one, although the leather one does look quite nice.

Peyton- Your TD looks really great too. It reminds me so much of the 85 wagon my dad use to have except his was a beautiful champagne color. His also had the Euro lights which were on it when he bought it in '87. The one thing I liked about his that I've noticed alot of them don't have are the 3 rear headrests. His also had the 3rd seat. It was the first benz in the family, but it certainly wasn't the last. Man, I wish we never sold that car. Mostly, I wish a had a photo of it to show. All I have is a good-bye video we took the day it was loaded on the semi and carted off.

Yeah I am satisfied... it just felt a lil weird at first. I just checked again it is $49 apparently. i don't remember paying that much for it though. At $49 I'd rather get the one from that German site. You should also check out their wood/leather steering wheel.. it's very pretty

I wanna get the wood/leather/chrome one on the second page (last) for the W123. However I don't know bout the matchin of the grain.

speaking of videos...
I wanna dig my collection of videos and find a Vid.8 with a video of my dad's pristine W123 280E 5-Speed (Euro motor with 11:1 compression) being driven away by the new owner...

Videos

That'd be cool. The video that I took was great (that I took it) and sad (that I had to take it.) The last part of it shows the Semi driving away (with a load of diesel smoke ) and the sun reflecting off the back window. The only photo I have of it is a photo taken from a regular camera from a long time ago when we made trips somewhere, but I don't have a scanner to scan it up. I'm gonna have to wait on the shift knob though since my wallet is a little dry.

Have a great evening.
