Looks and sounds good! Congrats! BTW the ARV is the air release valve, some fancy emissions related nonsense as far as that algae, BIOBOR by startron, or you could try a quart of ATF straight into the tank

This is a video of my 83 300D turbo with 297K cold starting. Door was closed. Chime in the background is the manual glow plug warning in case anyone wonders.

How does it sound compared to the 85? Can you hear any subtle differences?

Yes, the engine in your photo has CALIFORNIA emissions (trap-oxidizer etc). The '85 that Funola is getting has FEDERAL emissions (NO trap-oxidizer). It still has all the other emission related components that were on both Federal and CA vehicles.

Not much of a story. I spied it on eBay with 89k, located in New Jersey with damage to the right side (fender and door) that seemed to scare everyone off. I could see EDIT LOL I was pretty sure it was just cosmetic (my history on eBay is big highs and low-low-low LOWS so I crack myself up when I sound so sure).
One elderly owner, passed through estate to unexpecting recipient who drove it for a year for the novelty value but after the accident decided to sell.

You know, weird thing but I hardly ever take pics of my cars. I owned my beautiful w116 SD for eight years (including a full body job, paint and new Mille Miglia alloys at the three year mark) and I have four, count 'em, FOUR pics and two of those are awful.

Steve, I think it sounds great. Does it have blow-by?

If the price is right, I'd do it.

Good luck,

PE

The mechanical linkage is like all the other engines, but the '85 has a compressor cut-out switch, and maybe some vacuum switches (EGR, trans controls etc).

It has no blow by per the oil filler cap test. The plastic cap sits steady as a rock at idle.

I am gonna do it!

The top of my '85's motor:

Accelerator linkage and the compressor cut out switch on the top of the valve cover.

Not likely. It's not advertised. Owner came up from FL to close on their CT house a few weeks ago. I saw this car 3- 4 years ago (up on blocks in the sold house) when someone I know was renting their house temporarily while building a new (multi million dollar) house nearby. I expressed an interest in the car back then but was told it was not for sale.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago: I got word that the house has a buyer and the car is now for sale. AFAIK the only potential buyers he had was his mechanic and me. Supposedly an offer was made by the mechanic but then backed out of it so I went to look at the car and here we are.

Got insurance, get plates tomorrow.

I'll be doing the transaction tomorrow and picking up the 85. Besides all fluid changes, I want to fix the AC as number one priority. I assume the AC wiring diagram for an 85 is different than an 83 (which I have a diagram for). One difference I am aware of is a compressor cutout switch on the valve cover. I want to make sure the electrical is OK before looking for leaks. Can someone post a wiring diagram of an 85 AC system?

Beautiful car, love the color and the Euro headlights really set it off.
