Looking at the specs for the application of the compressor, it states it uses a 1/2 inch belt and that it will ride high on the pulley. 3/8 would be too skinny to carry the load.

The 1/2" x 39" belt size translate to 13 x 990. I going to use a better fitting 13 x 985 sized belt.

In the meantime, I installed the power steering pump to check for clearance. The idler pulley bolt sits pretty close to the power steering belt. I measured approximately a 2mm clearance between the bolt and belt. So I suggest anybody who has this kit to keep an eye on potential rubbing. It might be a good idea to grind down the bolt head to gain more clearance.

I purposely made the eccentric mount closer to the engine, and offset the pulley on the bearing so the bolt would not rub the power steering belt. I also provided a washer to space the pulley further from the engine if need be. The prototype that is on my car had the bolt rubbing the PS belt, so I modified the mount on the production units to keep this from happening. Also, the bolts that I was able to find protrude further out from the bearing than the bolt on my prototype.

I'm headed to the P.O. to send out #7. If you are on the list for the first batch and have not paid yet, please let me know. Otherwise, I will sell the last 2 on a first come, first served basis. Thanks, Rich

It would have to be 316 stainless, and be TIG welded. I don't have or know how to use a TIG welder. It would be VERY cost prohibitive to use SS.

Hi ROLLGUY

Here are some pics of a Sanden bracket for a 617 with adjustment.
Maybe you can use some of the features for your second generation bracket.

GREAT WORK!
When you see the photos of my prototype, you will be surprised at how similar they are. I will have an adjustment bolt that will keep the tension until the adjustment bolt is tightened.

Got mine!! Thanks Rich!

I think I'll wait until next year when its 100+ to change mine out. That way I'll be able to compare the R4 vs Sanden when the TX heat is at full blast. Cruzing down the interstate, the R4 can only muster 62F center vent temp when its 100+. But on days like today when its only 93 or so, the R4 can get down to 50F or lower.
I already have a PF condenser on the car thanks to Yak, so i'll probably stick with 134 as the refridgerant.

Finally got them today, and WOW! they are great! It is incredible what computers can do. However, I would like to post the photos, but (speaking of computers) I can't get the photos loaded up to my photobucket account!
I will get them posted as soon as I can. I also got the sleeves back from my machinist. They look so much better cut on a lathe, then cut with a cut-off saw. I will try to get the prototype welded up this weekend....Rich
Edit: Paul (mach4) advised me on how to upload photos to this site. I am still learning how to do it, so please be patient..Rich
